STLW Humanities Discussion Hosted by NEH Veteran Fellow Eric Perez

  • Hyde Park Art Center - The Pond 5020 S Cornell Ave Chicago (map)

Discuss, share, and reflect on the complex connections and contradictions that arise when placing the “American Indian Wars” and the “Global War on Terror” in dialogue. This Surviving the Long Wars discussion will focus on how the humanities themes of intimacy, resilience, and solidarity across difference relate to the US long wars.

Eric Perez will lead a discussion about the military uniform, identity, and the manipulation of the uniform as art.

Eric Perez [US Marine Corps] is a Chicago-based artist and educator. Eric studied photography at Triton College and earned his BFA at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He currently serves as the project manager at the Floating Museum. Perez’s work has appeared in exhibitions at Triton College Art Gallery, The Art Institute of Chicago, and Gallery 400.
